Apartment life in Inwood and Washington Heights

Inwood and Washington Heights are two of the neighborhoods found in the narrow, finger-like northernmost top of Manhattan island where you can find the Cloisters and the ramps to the George Washington Bridge.

Crime is down from previous highs in Washington Heights and you can find rentals in brownstones and large pre-WWII apartment buildings for about half of what comparable apartments cost elsewhere.

Inwood is an unassuming but friendly neighborhood located between Inwood Hill Park near 218th Street and Indian Road and Broadway North of 207th Street. Prices are affordable, but you'll have to go elsewhere if you want to dine in trendy restaurants.
